Balance is Never Still
The other day I came across a video of a ballerina balancing on top of glass bottles. I was in awe watching it — so impressive, and honestly a little nerve-wracking. If you want to see what I mean, here’s one of those videos.
What struck me wasn’t the big pose at the end. It was how her body kept making the tiniest shifts to stay steady.
Balance isn’t about being perfectly still. It’s about ongoing adjustments, moment by moment.
These days, that idea has been on my mind a lot. I’m pregnant, and this season of life has asked me to rethink what balance means for me.
It hasn’t looked like sticking to a perfect routine. Instead, it’s been about noticing what I need, day by day, and adjusting with care. Some days that means rest. Other days it means movement, connection, or slowing down with a quiet moment to myself.
And I think that’s true for all of us. Balance in well-being isn’t one fixed state.
We’ve all heard the phrase “work-life balance,” as if it’s something we’re supposed to find once and for all. But balance isn’t a destination. Life shifts. Work ebbs and flows. Our energy changes. Seasons come and go.
Balance means meeting ourselves where we are — and making small changes along the way.
As we step into fall, a season of transition, it might be a good time to pause and check in with yourself. You might ask:
What do I need most right now?
What feels nourishing to focus on this season?
What helps me return to a sense of steadiness when things shift?
There’s no single answer to these questions — just whatever feels good for you right now.
I’m here reflecting with you 💛
