My 3 “Whys” for Showing up on Socials

Social media is a big part of daily life for most people (myself included). In a recent blog, I reflected on 3 ways we can be intentional about how we use social media in a way that’s supportive for our well-being (check it out!).

In this blog, I wanted to share a about my personal intentionsmy “whys”for using and showing up on social media.

For a long time, I found it challenging to figure out with how I wanted to show up on social media. I first created my public Instagram profile in 2020, but for the next few years, I found it hard to post consistently.

I would take long breaks — sometimes months, even a year and a half — because I just didn’t feel comfortable putting myself out there. I needed time to work through my own fears of being seen and sharing my voice.

About a year ago, I finally felt ready to fully show up online. It’s been a process, but learning to approach social media differently has made it feel more meaningful, easier, and even fun!

Rather than letting social media feel overwhelming, I’ve found that having clear intentions — or “whys” — makes all the difference.

These are my personal 3 “whys” for why I show up on socials:

1. Self-expression

This space is a creative outlet for mea way to share what’s on my mind, what I care about, and what I’m learning. Not just about yoga and well-being, but about life, growth, and the small everyday moments that make life meaningful.

2. Connection

Social media helps me stay in touch with friends, communities, and people I wouldn’t otherwise cross paths with. I love using DMs, voice notes, and real conversations to make this space feel truly social. And I also love how it lets me discover and learn from others.

3. Sharing my work

My work revolves around yoga, positive psychology, and stress reductionall things that support well-being. If what I share can help someone feel more grounded, at ease, or inspired, I want them to find it.

Social media is what we make of it. It has its challenges, but with a little intention, it can also be a space for creativity, connection, and meaningful interactions.
